NOTE: OCTOBER 2021
Due to the A2P 10DLC changes (changes in the way mobile carriers are processing & filtering text messages), using a Bitly URL will cause your SMS to be undelivered. "In the United States, carrier policies forbid the use of shared public URL shorteners, due to the frequency of use by spammers, scammers and other bad actors."
So, if you use the free version of Bitly (which shows the domain name as Bitly), your messages will be blocked.
The paid version of Bitly allows you to register a domain name. This name will replace the Bitly domain name. Organizing a domain name and paying for Bitly are additional expenses. However, it will mean that shortened Bitly URL's will not cause your messages to be blocked. Problem solved. Here is Bitly's customer support article about this topic: https://support.bitly.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025607351-How-do-I-add-my-own-custom-domain-to-Bitly-
Alternatively, you can turn off the Bitly integration and just use the long version we send. This will use more characters, but it will most likely increase the chances that you message will be delivered. for delivery. This is because the messages carriers the Confirmed.Church domain name which should not raise any red flags with the mobile carrier filtering algorithm.
